When posts are placed in unsuitable topics, admin will attempt to clean up the situation by moving them to more suitable topics. An example might be an obvious test or practice post to would be a good fit for the Sandbox topic.
The moved posts are sorted within the destination topic by posting (not revision) date. If a post has a posting date that is earlier than that of the OP of the topic into which it is being merged, then the moved topic will wind up at the top of the topic, before the OP. This moves the OP down the topic, which is not good, because the OP no longer looks like the OP.
Except for merges into the Sandbox topic, a statement will be placed at the bottom of the merged post explaining where the post came from and who moved it.
