If you are working on a long post, whether initial or modifying, you may get a rude shock. Instead of posting your glorious message, you might get one of the following messages:
• The server is too busy now; try later. • The request is not understood. • The server hates you, you steaming pile of camel snot, you.
And then, Pfft! it's gone. Sometimes you can refresh [F5] and things will catch up. But it's better to be safe than sorry.
Don't rush the server! Always wait 15 seconds after doing one operation before you do another. If you post too quickly in succession, you will get a warning message to slow down.
When working with a long post, you could of course prepare the text in a word editor like Notepad or WordPad and then paste the finished product into the forum msg dialog box. Should the msg evaporate, you can always paste it back it again. However, by doing so, you give up the preview feature that allows you to see what your message will look like so far.
Another way to deal with the problem is to save the text often to the Windows clipboard. Do [Ctrl-A] to select the entire msg and [Ctrl-C] to save it to the clipboard. This is especially important just before you preview or post. Should it evaporate, you can simply start over and paste it in place of the current text with [Ctrl-V], or should message posting not work at all for some reason, you could paste it into an editor and save it until things are working again.
Remember, better save than sorry.
