The City of Los Angelos is a new video. • I have been working on getting all her own vids in the Video Index. There are nearly 700, and I am back to 2009 so far. The thing is, the further back you go, the more per month there are. • I have seen a couple of episodes of the History Channel's America's Secret Slang. The word slang in the title is used loosely, because many of the words explained are normal usage and not slang at all. They do a pretty good job (without really knowing if their word origins are correct) and do handfuls of related words and phrases in each episode. Zach Selwyn and the show staff is out-producing M by orders of magnitude. He's not as pretty, although, being a musician, he can carry a tune.

• I am back to mid 2008 now, so it will be a week or two before I get all the vids into the Video Index. This is a slow process, because I am not listing the vids by M's title, but by the true subject matter. In that manner, if you search the index and the word you are looking for is not there, it is because no vid has been done on it, not simply because M chose to not put the actual word or phrase in the title (which she does a lot). • A very strange thing was observed this morning on M's YT account. While the underlying account name of "hotforwords" remains, the name that shows on all the vids has changed from a verified "Marina Orlova" to a verified "HaveBalls ToWearit". There is a domain name of www.haveballstowearit.com parked by GoDaddy, so that doesn't look like a good thing. Has her YT account been hacked? Hmmmm.

• Hi, Leonard. Long time no post. I see you caught the weird channel name, too, but you came in two names too late (read on). • A weird thing happened on her recently-redesigned site the last couple of days. First some background: her permanent account name is hotforwords, and for a long time, her main channel name was the same. Then with the advent of Google+, in order to get verified account status—guaranteeing she is who she says she is (and not Marnina Orlova, the Russian actress, etc.)—she had to switch the channel name to her own name, Marina Orlova. Well, in the last few days that changed! First it became Haveballs ToWearit (I kid you not), then Candy Warhole, then Hashtag Limited, and now it is back to Marina Orlova. In each of these changes, the wide but short pix at the top of her channel page—click channel name to see it—changed to match the name, all done in garish orange with yellow script of the same style. Now that it is back to M.O., the pix is a nice, dreamy one of her eyes close up. So what the heck was that all about? If she was just experimenting, you would think she would have a separate Website set up for the purpose. Very disconcerting. • Another weird thing is the prefixing of all main-channel (nicknamed "UCq) videos with a one-second-long blurb with the sound of a cash register ringing: • I finished adding all of M's 700-odd main channel videos to the Video Index. A magnificent body of work if I don't say so myself. I believe there will not be a better index, because I have listed the videos by the actual subject matter. Now I am picking up the crumbs of videos lying about, which unlike the latter, will be a never-ending task. But at least it is onesy-twosy, hither and yon, so it is a leisurely task. You can do a simple [Ctrl-F] search for any word or phrase; the non-lesson video subjects (in red) have a less-vigorous formatting standard. • Here is a crumb I found from last April that was missed because of the YouTube channel it was on: M took a gratis* ride to a Vegas charity benefit concert on N315QS a Cessna 680, a Citation Sovereign. Registered to Netjets of Oklahoma City, it is obviously a charter. M appears to be the only passenger, but i definitely would have volunteered to keep her company. Her departure was held up for an hour because O'bama somebody was visiting. This from a Google cache: "@drinkneuro is giving away two airfares to Las Vegas, hotel and two tickets to Justin Timberlake's...benefit in Vegas next weekend." So that's how she got the ride. The burning question is why the video was posted on account BestinTimesurance, channel "insurance information institute", which appears to be a usurped name. It should not be confused with account "iiivideo"", channel "Insurance Information Institute", which, being a legitimate outfit, should be in control of the name, a registered federal trademark. Who is this iii interloper, and isn't it odd that M didn't post this on one of her own channels. (I think I will call the III Monday and ask what they think about this channel name usurper and see what they say.) I searched for this video on other channels thinking it might be a copy of one on M's own channels, but couldn't find it, so maybe this is the only one on YouTube: Notice that when M asked the attendant if the Citation was like a G4 (which from several of her videos it can be seen she has Gulfstreams on her mind), he didn't answer yes or no, but instead described the number of passengers, etc. Very diplomatic. • While searching for crumbs, I found this video by a couple of mindless twits, whose work will surely put you to sleep as well as a good anesthetist, allowing you to withstand the most painful medical or dental procedures, but with the chance of permanent brain damage. I bring this up only because they have the name HotForWords embedded in the title and thus their videos pop up in video searches for Her Royal Majesty's work. If you dare, watch this for only one second (you have been warned!) at 06:56, and then seek competent medical help if you are not crazy, catatonic, comatose or dead soon after: So what were they doing using M's account name in vein? • At the HFW site, Capt. Jack commented (for the current HFW video, The City of Los Angeles), that he missed the old method of commenting from the previous WordPress and DISCUS days. Mijj and I agreed. I also explained that the layout, which separates the video window from the comments with several inches of crapola that could be moved elsewhere was confusing; the two should be adjacent so they are related with each other by the viewer. And just who is doing all this Webmastering? I can't believe it is M; it is really complicated code. • Speaking of code, the HFW site uses code for embedding the videos that lops off the control bar at the bottom of the video window. That is the pits. I am trying to work out what the code should be and hope to persuade M to adopt it.

hi, CK!
my guess is M didn't actually do the heavy lifting for the old site, and she's being a bit random and casual in her attitude to the updated site.
Plus, yeh .. it's hopeless without a proper comment thread. No communal sense. So no reason to go there. And, if she wants ppl to return, in addition to a better comments system, she's going to have to be as regular and predictable as clockwork.

I forgot what she meant about the UCq coding for her videos. I do remember she used the code quite a bit. There are some other codes she used. I think it was a way of changing the order of the videos or moving them to other channels. Its been so long I forgot. This was back in the day when Youtube was still growing and learning new things.

I know for a fact she did the heavy lifting with the old site. I have a ton of emails of our discussions. She had help from other Youtubers though. Funny thing, when she had a question on how to fix something, she would email me. I would respond with a solution, and she replied back she already figured it out. If there was someone else doing the heavy lifting she did well in hiding that person. I suspected someone else but she reassured me it was just her. I agree with you about her latest site edits, is like she dropped a few IQ points. Im beside myself trying to figure out what had changed. Its like she was in a car crash and lost some of her brain function or she had a bad acid trip and it messed her up. You know she was heavy in the hollywood scene. She was around some bad people. Who knows what happen.

"So what were they doing using M's account name in vein?"
Its all about LINKING. If you use popular search words in your video title, you will show up in that search. There are many trick (gaming) in gaining views on Youtube. Marina used many of them. Today most of those tricks have been squashed by Youtube staff. That said, there are many that can never be squashed and thats where you can game the algorithm.

Capt. Jack: I think I confusicized you. "UCq" is my nickname for the channel ID for one of her channels. It is the first three letters of the Channel ID. (This is explained in this topic.) It is possible to put a different name on each channel, but, because she chose to name them all "Marina Orlova", I had to use something else to differentiate between them. Specifically, "UCq" is her original channel that started in 2007 and has the most videos in it. Here's a new promo video about an upcoming HBO show: But's it's not worth starting a new topic for. Notice the hair color. When will she realize that for some people, blonde is just the way to go? In her book My Life in High Heels, Loni Anderson found out that everyone went nuts about her and her career blossomed when she went blonde. There are pix of her brunette and blonde, and there is just no comparison.

• Donate?!? If M made videos at the rate she did in 2008 - 2009, she would be raking in the dough. And she has no rent to pay now that she has moved in with her fiancé. But I guess it doesn't hurt to ask.
• Last September, M (or somebody) started republishing tons of her old videos on new channels. Two of the channels got deleted/suspended, but one channel, "UC4", still holds about 200. When I started adding them to Video Index today, I got a rude surprise after about 30 videos, namely that there is a 262144-character limit to a forum message. So I backed off and I am re-thinking it to do more with less characters. For example, I am doing away with the red font for non-lessons, which saves a dozen characters per entry. The "UC4" videos will have to go in a separate index in order that there be left plenty of room for M's new videos (should there be any!), not to mention third-party videos.
I don't know why the "UC4" channel still exists. There not many views; I think they only get seen if someone accidentally stumbles across one. The number of comments is practically zilch. Some of the games that used one video for the question and one for the answer didn't get both of ends posted in "UC4", which is pretty sloppy. Also some of the videos have defects in the video (pixelations) and audio (dead channels), so the copying process was not without its problems. You just watch: when I get it all indexed up, she will delete it! I am just a plutten for gunishment.

I looked at YouTube today to check for any HFW vids, but before I could log in, the home page showed me at least four HFW vids in the mix of all others. And then one of the recommended channels was M's. I'll betcha YT is somehow looking at my browser history. Then next time I am at the library (where there will be no history and no cookies), I will check to see what shows up before I log in to confirm the theory.
It's Monday and the theory holds! I don't see all the HFW stuff when there's no history/cookies.

• I have been scouring YouTube and Google, searching this way and that for M's and others' videos, and generally autiting and polishing up the index. It's getting pretty comprehensive and having less errors. One thing I found is that people will suddenly decide to change their channel name, e.g hotforwords became Marina Orlova (in order to link up to Google+). However, the user name, e.g. /user/hotforwords, is written in stone and can't be changed. So I have to check the channel names periodically to catch changes.
• I found out one source of failed links in the index—inserted spaces. I keep copies of the index in plain vanilla Notepad (.txt) files. And when I want to update the index, rather than edit the text of the OP, I copy the previous backup and edit as desired. Then I paste it in the OP. In other words I never edit the OP itself, just replace in one swell foop. I started doing it that way, because Version 5 of forum software really screwed me up. In order to automatically take all the v4 forums and translate it to the new v5 methods, they put in a lot of automatic fixer-upper functions, such as inserting closing tags if it finds them missing. So, if you aren't minding your p's and q's, things start changing on you before you are ready. In doing this, it tends to scrunch up your nice, lined-up, tabular format into one big furball that is hard as hell to find things in. Phooey on that!
So I went to the edit and paste technique, which works fairly well. My .txt file is all nice and neat, allowing me to easily find any video. Then I started finding links that failed and found it was due to an inserted space. Where did the space come from? I think it was because I would turn on word wrap to keep long lines of code on the screen, which then I turned off before pasting to the OP (which is upset mightily by the extra carriage return if you don't turn wrap off). The turning on and off of word wrap somehow sticks a space in the line, which just happens to land in the middle of the video's link tag. (That's my theory, but I haven't been able to duplicate it on purpose using test files.)

• Digging even deeper into the YouTube archives, I found Dullbedsitblogger's music video (now in the Video Index), which samples M's dope lesson. It's for the British band Dopegrinders. If you can listen to a video a dozen times in a row and the ears don't rebel, it is all-around well done, earning a 5 out of 5: In case you are wondering where the pipe smoker graphic in the video comes from, he is J. R. "Bob" Dobbs, proponent of slack. The band's logo is a combination of the Dobbs graphic and the Guy Fawkes Vendetta mask. The pulsating fuzzy notes spell out HMAA in Morse, but is it Morse or is it just music? • I found this video by PedanticKarl's deceased buddy Jody Darling. (Because PK was struck down, too, maybe you should wear protective lenses when viewing this just in case the reach of this death business extends to three generations. Don't say you haven't been warned!) Look at 04:30 and you will find our old friend Charles T. Como following M around with a video camera like a paparazzi. I guess those days are over. • And Leonard, please edit your post of the 19th AND FIX THE LINK (see the PM I sent you). Gosh, I haven't heard from him in a while. Wait... Maybe he didn't take me seriously about the protective lenses. Ah, crap! He's dead, too.

That crazy girl! Today the Hotforwords channel name ("UCq") has been renamed to Ask Nutrition Nerd. Why? Is she headed in another career direction? No new videos, though.
The fact that a YT search for HotForWords still finds all the main-channel videos proves that the YT search engine looks at both the account name and the channel name.
Here's an interesting video on FB's "theater mode" that M used on all but the latest of her FB videos:
There's always new crap to learn! I know what theater mode is now , but don't know exactly what these FB video parameters do: &set=vb.189807197404 (Sets a Visual Basic environmental variable. But what for?) type=2 (Sets shape and size of embedded video, but doesn't seem to work.)
